Christie Facts
You probably aren't surprised to hear that before the state forced insurance companies to cover mammograms for women, they chose not to. But now, like nearly every other state, New Jersey mandates coverage for these life-saving procedures.

Despite his claims to the contrary, no matter how hard he tries to spin his position, the fact remains that Chris Christie's plan would reverse that progress and let insurance companies drop mammogram coverage.

Though Christie's TV ad calls that claim "deceitful," Star Ledger columnist Tom Moran wrote that it "happens to be true" and that Christie's solution "would allow any insurer to sidestep mandates, including the one requiring mammogram coverage for young women who have a family history of cancer."

Christie's position is even more outrageous in light of the countless stories we're hearing right now of health insurance companies denying coverage to their patients.

So while Christie says he would never deny a woman the right to a mammogram, he doesn't even understand the consequences of his own policies, which is why he is wrong on what matters most to New Jersey families.
